About Luchanik

Your Travel Agent - Davinder Kaur
This is a picture of me taken in Negril, Jamaica in 2010.

I am Davinder Kaur and welcome to my blog! I love traveling, and I have traveled to various countries around the world and lived in four of them for a year or more, including the USA where I live now, England (where I was born and raised), Denmark – where I lived for a year, and Australia – where I traveled around for a year before coming to the USA.  I have vacationed on five cruise ships, and highly recommend a cruise as an excellent way to vacation.  I was a travel agent for a little while, but I am no longer in that line of business.  In face, I stopped being a travel agent (January 21st, 2013).  I stopped after doing some soul-searching – commission only or a job that pays?   I decided that I could not operate any more on a commission basis, some people can – but it was not for me.   I do work somewhere else now in a job that isn’t commission based, so I am very happy with that.

During the two years that I was a travel agent, I developed my creative skills by making videos of cruise ships whilst conducting ship inspections, and taking photographs.  I discovered that I really enjoy being creative – putting videos together, and discovering that some of the pictures that I have taken are worth a second glance (but that’s in the eye of the beholder).    Since I put so much of my creativity into everything I did – I though that I might as well continue to share my love of traveling with you.

I finally made the change on WordPress from Luchanik Travel & Cruises to just Luchanik!  But, gosh, that was a lot of work!  Luchanik is a name I am fond of – it consists of a little bit of all my three children’s names: Luca, Chandi and Niki – hence Luchanik.

I am on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and Instagram as @luchanik.

You may wonder why I might still wish to blog if I’m not promoting my business anymore?  Well, it’s just a simple answer – I wish to share my pictures of travel around the world (past and present), and pictures of the beautiful city of San Diego – where I now live, as well as videos I have made.  I like taking photographs and videos, this helps to treasure the memories, and I’d like to share them with you – hopefully, you will enjoy seeing them.

In addition, I also like spreading awareness on human rights issues, and recently from 2019 have started to blog about that. Why not blog about everything from one site? I’m a complex human being, I like a lot of things, and this blog reflects who I am. Besides, I just published my memoir “Forced to Marry Him: A Lifetime of Tradition and the Will to Break It” on October 31, 2021 and I’m deciding if I need another website for that or to just use this. I hope you will all read my book and let me know what you think about it. As of June 16, 2023, I have indeed created a new website https://www.forcedtomarryhim.com and just posted about it today.

I find your story quite inspirational, I am just a kid from a small town, and your blog to me is fascinating.

Thank you so much! This blog is not that inspirational, but if it inspires anyone to travel, take pictures, post videos, etc., I’m glad if I helped in that regard. I visited your blog, and believe you are the truly inspirational one.

Well thank you!! I am flattered! My true motivation is that things like this keep me up at night, I also live by the motto ‘Treat others as you wish to be treated’. I simply believe what I am trying to do is the right thing, as I have very limited influence to be able to do more

      • luchanik says :

That’s a great motto to live by. Carry on the good work! 🙂
