Sometime – You Have To See The Amazing Antalya

Hadrian's Gate, Antalya

Sometimes, you have to see the amazing Antalya, you have to sightsee and you will see things you would never see back home.

Old City, Antalya

Old City, Antalya

Sometimes, you have to take a second look, and think well, that looks like something I have seen at home.

Old City, Antalya

Old City, Antalya

Sometimes, you have to turn a corner in this new place, and you will see things you know you can’t see at home.

Old City, Antalya

Old City, Antalya

Sometimes, you have to wonder, and say is this Turkey or is it Rome?  For parts of it are so similar to other places in Europe – don’t forget Turkey is partly in Asia, and partly in Europe.

Old City, Antalya

Old City, Antalya

Sometimes, you’ll have to question – is this Ireland or England? I see a pub!  Then, you have to remember you are in a place that wants to cater to tourists and make you feel at home.

Old City, Antalya

Old City, Antalya

Sometimes, you will see what you will normally see in public, and it could be anywhere in the world.

Old City, Antalya

Sometimes you will again think is this England, perhaps it is?  But again, if you recollect and rack your brains, you will remember where you are and be happy to be in Antalya.

Sometimes, well let’s stop with the sometimes and give it a break while you look at more pictures

Sometimes, you will wonder about the time, and this will give you an indication of the difference in hours of the places mentioned in the picture below

Sometimes, you should be reminded of Hadrian’s Gate again…..

Sometimes, you have to watch my video of Antalya…..perhaps now – would be a good time?!!

Sometime, you will have to see the amazing Antalya.

Some Turkish Delight in Antalya

I must continue writing and sharing my pictures of Antalya.  I was only in Antalya for 7 days, but have so many pictures that I took, and I was only in the Old City for about 4 hours, but also took more than enough pictures.  But, can you ever get enough pictures?  When you are into taking pictures, it’s never enough!

You might want to take a picture of a big beautiful boat (perhaps it’s a barge) like this, surrounded by other boats with the gorgeous backdrop of the Sea in Antalya.

The Old City, Antalya

The Old City, Antalya

Then, you need to get the rocks centralized, and still get the boats in the picture.

The Old City, Antalya

The Old City, Antalya

Then, perhaps find an angle with buildings that will blend in and still give you a picture that has boats and the Sea in it.

The Old City, Antalya

The Old City, Antalya

Now, you get all that I described above in one picture.

The Old City, Antalya

The Old City, Antalya

Okay, and there I will stop.  You get the picture, you just have to take lots of pictures as you don’t know when you might go back – if ever.  The wish always of course is when you are there, that you will return.  However, life gets in the way many a time, and return visits to certain places is not as possible as perhaps a visit to other places that you just have to go to because either a piece of your heart is there, like mine is in London, or because you have family there and that is somewhere you must go back to or you will lose yourself if you erase that part completely.  I will never erase England from my memory, nor do I want to.

However, this post is about Turkey, and I feel that I have connected somewhat to Turkey – after all – I have vacationed here for a week this time, and been to Istanbul before (for about 8 hours only on a port visit during a cruise), and to Izmir (during the same cruise – but on a different day).  Who knows, it seems like Turkey is part of my destiny in some ways – I feel I will return here again.

The picture below reminds me a little of Seaport Village in San Diego.  Why am I seeing so much similarity or drifting off to other places during this post?  Please forgive me.  If you do view the San Diego post, I’m sure you will see some water with exactly the same color as in this one with the fountain.

One more thing, I was thinking about the title of this post and since I linked to other pieces that I wrote with Turkish Delight in the titles, I figured why not use these words again, and this time give you a picture or two of Turkish Delight since now I have more than enough pictures of this delicious Turkish treat.  So, these two are just for you!  By the way, they were delicious!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my pictures of Antalya.  Next time, I might bring you more pictures of Antalya or more of London…..we’ll see.  Until then, I hope you all have a terrific weekend, and for those of you in the USA – happy three day weekend!

A Captivating Trip To The Old City of Antalya in Turkey

Do you worry about going into unchartered territory?  It’s easy to worry, but until you venture to the unknown, you won’t know.  Look at me, I had no clue that I would see Haidan’s Gate in Antalya until I ventured into the Old City, and I am so pleased that I saw it – I would say that it was the highlight of my trip.  Turkey – especially, Antalya is quite safe.  I am in the process of making a little video about Antalya and will upload it soon.  If you are thinking of culture, travel, history, architecture…..think Turkey.   Take a look at some of my pictures, and get a taste of Turkey.

Music and prayers from the Mosque drifted through the air, and it was kind of hypnotizing to be there with the prayers coming in over the loudspeakers.  Of course, I couldn’t understand any of it, but I enjoyed listening to it as it was not something I would come across at home in the USA or even when growing up in the UK.  It is something  given to you as a gift through travel.  You do get unique little gifts like that via your travels, little cultural experiences that can enrich you – you can enjoy other’s culture while there, be aware of their culture and their country, respect it, and just drink in the experiences surrounding you.  Nothing I write can quite describe it, so that is why I made a video.  Later, I will come back to this and insert a link of my video when it’s ready.  Meanwhile, here’s the Mosque where the music and prayers came from.

Next time, I will show you more pictures of the Bay.  I think I take too many pictures, sometimes I share too many pictures.  Perhaps, I just like pictures and taking pictures.  How many times can you use the word picture in one paragraph – just count how many times I did it.  I think I better stop now.  Until next time.  I wrote this post today, so I could have the day off tomorrow – after all it’s Mothers Day tomorrow.  Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers of the world.  I hope you have a fantastic day.

Oh, by the way……here’s the video that I made of The Old City of Antalya – I hope you enjoy it!

and here’s a longer video of it – if you want even more!

Old Bazaar & The Old City of Antalya

Are you ready for color, spice, souvenirs, and all things Turkish?  Let me take you on my sightseeing trip to the Old City of Antalya.   In this post I will carry on where I left off a few posts ago.  I had woken up early on the 4th of August, 2014, to go sightseeing all by myself in Antalya.  Then I had stumbled across Haidan’s Gate which I had not even known was here in Antalya – so happy that I had left the resort to go see the sights.  Now, I headed for the Old Bazaar.

Old City of Antalya

I think I took my first selfie, by looking through a mirror and taking a picture with me in it.  I think that’s still classed as a selfie?

When I went to this shop that sold delicious Turkish Delights, the man who sold them to me was so happy, he even ordered a cup of tea for me.  This reminded me of India, where I have only been once when I was 14, but I remember the same thing happening there.  When my mum would go in a store to buy material or Punjabi suits, the people in the store would order tea for everyone, even I would get a cup of tea at 14.  I was happy about that, as I even liked my tea back then.

Hadrian’s Gate, Antalya, Turkey

Haidan's Gate, Antalya, Turkey

Hadrian’s Gate in the Old City of Antalya, Turkey is not to be missed.  Here’s a link to read more information about this beautiful historical and magnificent gate: http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/go/med/Antalya/sights/hadrian_gate.html  It is ever so impressive, and was built in the year 130 AD.  Antalya used to be a Roman city.  Here are pictures:

Out And About On The Way And In Old City, Antalya

My kind of holiday is not actually just a beach and swimming pool type of holiday (vacation).  I am more of a sight-seer.  I love seeing the sights, and being a tourist.  I can’t just sit by the pool all day.

I wanted to go and see something other than the grounds of the Delphin Imperial in Lara Beach, l actually wanted to see Antalya; see Turkey – not just swimming pools and the beach within metres of where we were staying.  That wasn’t adventurous enough for me.

Sadly, nobody else in my family (and there were at least 13 of us) wanted to see anything else of Turkey during this trip.  I asked the front desk at the Delphin Imperial about what there was to see in Antalya, and they told me they recommended that I see the Old City which is about 20 minutes away from the resort. Apparently, there were public buses that went from right outside the hotel and were really cheap – perhaps just about 2 Turkish lira.  Another option was getting a taxi.  A third option that I went for was taking the hotel’s private bus – used exclusively for it’s guests and this was a free bus.  Well, it didn’t take rocket science to figure out which option was the best.  After all, a public bus could be questionable, after all – what if I missed my stop?  Would anyone be able to help me, or understand me?  A taxi could also be problematic.  What if I got a questionable driver, who might take advantage of a woman traveling by herself?  I am a little worried about these things these days.  Once upon a time, when I was a lot younger, and before I had kids, I was ever so daring – I hitch-hiked around Australia – on my own, and then part of the time with a friend.  However, a private bus provided by the hotel – that was just for guests – seemed to be safe, and I couldn’t have made a better choice.  I had to reserve a seat, but it didn’t cost me anything.  My bus was going to leave at 9:20 am the next morning – I believe it was August 4th, 2014 and I should make sure that I got on the bus at least ten minutes early. When I told my family that I was going to travel by myself – they didn’t stop me – they know that I am a little stubborn, and will do what I want to do to some extent.

Next morning, I had my breakfast, and got on the bus.  It was adventure time!

Here are some pictures taken along the way.  By the way, the Old City is also known as Old Town too.

Delphin Imperial Resort, Lara Beach – Antalya – A Picture Video

You know I like to show you pictures?  Guess, what instead of putting so many pictures on this post like I did in the last one – I put them in a video.  Also, there’s some video footage too.  So, come on…..take a look at my video, and don’t forget to like it.

Here’s a brief excerpt description – cut and pasted from my YouTube video – yes, I made this post super quick.

Turkey is so mystical. Enchanting. Intriguing. Have you ever thought of staying in a resort in Turkey? Well, if you are thinking about it, here’s one that deserves your consideration – The Delphin Imperial at Lara Beach, which is in the Antalya region. This video will show you a lot, you’ll even see someone doing a belly dance at one of the shows, you’ll see the pool(s) – there’s many pools, the buffet, the lobby, the beach, the rooms, and the view from the room where me and my family stayed. You’ll also see the coffee shop – did you know you can choose however much chocolate you want from there, and also any of the cakes or two or three! You can also get cappuccino, latte or espresso. Hopefully, you’ll get a good idea about the resort. Guess what it’s very clean – no mosquito problem either!

The Delphin Imperial, Lara Beach – Antalya. It will Astound You.

I think you will be astounded if you go visit the Delphin Imperial Resort.  When I think back to our vacation in Lara Beach which is in the Antalya region of Turkey – I have good memories.  My kids loved it there.  They loved it because we went with our family from England – so there was a large group of us.  Holidays are always better in large groups.  I think back to the luxurious inside, and the exquisite outside of the hotel, and just have to share some more pictures with you.

Well, that was a lot of pictures.  I always intend to share just about four or five, but never manage to.  Next time, I might do my post on old Antalya, which I was so fortunate to have visited – when I ventured away from the resort on August 4th.  Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my post and I hope you can see that the Delphin Imperial is an astoundingly good resort.

A World Class Resort At The Delphin Imperial, Antalya

The Delphin Imperial Resort, Antalya

When you are thinking of all-inclusive resort destinations – you may think of the Caribbean if you are from the USA, perhaps somewhere like Jamaica or the Bahamas, or perhaps even Aruba – but I bet you’ll never think of Turkey as a destination for vacation.  Why are we all so different when it comes to our ideas of vacations (or holidays as we like to call our time off in the UK and other parts of Europe)?  Turkey is such a popular place with the Brits, and with people from all around Europe, but I hardly saw one American there at the Delphin Imperial Resort, in Antalya, while there last summer.  Is it because we don’t think Turkey is a place capable of providing world-class resorts and relaxation?  Well, I have news for all of you in the USA – Turkey is a fabulous place to have your vacation at.  Americans will have to catch on sometime soon, and I might as well be the one to provide you with the information.

When we first got to the Delphin Imperial Resort, we were awestruck at how majestic it looked – like a palace!  Both inside and outside – it was fabulous to look at!

That’s me above with some Turkish Delight, oh, how I loved it.  Also, you will see a picture of a sign that shows all the A La Carte Restaurants available.

The next morning, I took pictures looking out from my hotel window – this is Turkey!  I’ve been before to Istanbul and Izmir while on a cruise, but have never been to Antalya before, and now I actually am staying overnight – in fact – seven nights!  The Delphin Imperial is part of a large group of hotels, which include the Delphin Palace, and the Delphin Diva.  They are all very close to one another, but I believe the Delphin Imperial might just be one of the best.

As you can see from the pictures above, the interior is akin to that of what you can imagine a palace to look like.  I included some pictures of the main restaurant, which is where we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner most of the time.  In fact, since it’s an all-inclusive, many times we had to skip lunch as we were so full from breakfast!  You wouldn’t believe this place, there was a coffee shop that had chocolates and pastries that you could order as much as you wanted to at no extra cost.  I can give you an example of some all-inclusives that aren’t all truly-inclusive like when you are on a cruise ship – such as their specialty shops or restaurants.  However, at the Delphin Imperial – it was all included, except for things from the gift shop, or services such as the hairdressers or beauty salon.  There were even smoothies, which is a big thing for kids – which kid doesn’t like smoothies?

There were also kebabs available by the pool at lunch-time that were so delicious, and pizza that you could have made to order.  You could have an entire pizza made and carry it to your seat by the pool.  Let’s just say, there was no shortage of food.  As far as drinks, you could order alcohol, including cocktails or cappuccino as well as Turkish coffee for no extra price too.

If you want a glimpse at the pools, here are some pictures:

Well, that’s it from Antalya at the moment.  I will share more pictures soon.  Don’t forget, if you are thinking of all-inclusive, consider the Delphin Imperial in Antalya.  It’s a world class resort.

The Delphin Imperial is too nice to put off any longer.  I can only show you a few pictures of this resort in this post though. Of course, I have many more to share and will probably do quite a few posts on my trip to Antalya, Turkey which is where the Delphin Imperial is located.  If you want an all-inclusive resort, and want to try something in this part of Europe, do give this resort a try.

Here’s a few pictures until next time, and all I can say is:

Ooh, the building!

Did I tell you that this is a first class resort, that can cost you up to $4,600 for a family of four if you go in July or August, and sometimes even more.  Of course, if you go during off-peak times, it might be less expensive.  Well, until next time!
